“Our original business need was to better organize ourselves internally, to be more effective at helping deliver great projects,” recalls Roman Tarasyuk, CEO at RIEL. “Based on our partner’s recommendations, we agreed the best option was Microsoft’s approach to helping support better coordination.”
The journey started with Microsoft Project Online in late 2017, embedding business intelligence delivered by Microsoft Power BI with the modern workplace productivity of Microsoft Office 365. The company was so impressed with the power of Office 365 that it has committed to extensive use of two other key services, Microsoft Planner and Microsoft Teams.
“We find Planner very useful in scheduling resources, while the integration with Power BI has improved our reporting and business analysis,” he confirms. “Project Online is now a very important RIEL tool for answering any project cost questions, increasing the accuracy of cost planning by 60 percent so ensuring more successful project management. We are also ensuring high customer satisfaction through an easy-to-use client portal on SharePoint.”
But it’s the enthusiastic reaction of RIEL employees to Microsoft Teams that impressed Tarasyuk the most. “Right from the start of us offering Teams to our staff, our people have loved it,” he says. “We just conducted a survey of 100 people to understand how the new systems help their day-to-day work, and we found it has reduced 40 percent of employee work communication time. That means RIEL employees get things done faster—95 percent of them say they use Teams daily, and 15 percent said they even use it while on vacation to check on urgent projects.”
The verdict is clear for Tarasyuk, the positive impact of this powerful combination of Microsoft technologies in his environment. “Thanks to Microsoft technology, we now have the perfect project management tool so we can easily track progress, manage project budgets, and analyze workloads,” he says. “Plus, investors can monitor the construction progress, meaning we have more transparency and they can trust us more.”
