In our previous article, we introduced LEO PPM and explained how it helps organisations turn strategy into execution.
This article is a logical continuation.
Now it is time to explain how LEO PPM is delivered in practice — and why it exists in three different editions.
Companies have different levels of maturity, tools, and starting points.
That is precisely why LEO PPM offers a flexible platform with three clearly defined editions to suit various organisational needs, so your audience can feel confident in its adaptability.
From One Product to Three Editions
When LEO PPM was first released in 2022, it existed as a single solution.
It was built on Model-Driven Power Apps (Microsoft Power Platform), and the default tool for schedules and task management was Project for the Web (now known as Planner Premium).
As our customer base grew and Microsoft’s product landscape evolved, it became clear that one size does not fit all.
That is how three LEO PPM editions were formed.
LEO PPM Planner Edition
LEO PPM Planner Edition is the platform’s original version.
It uses Microsoft Planner Premium as the default tool for task and schedule management and is ideal for organisations that:
- already works inside Microsoft 365
- prefer Microsoft-native planning tools
- focus on portfolio, strategy, and governance rather than complex Gantt logic
Planner Edition provides the complete LEO PPM ecosystem: strategy, OKRs, portfolios, programs, projects, analytics, and governance — all connected.
This edition is often chosen by companies seeking rapid adoption with minimal changes to their existing Microsoft stack.
LEO PPM Gantt Edition
The only difference between Planner Edition and Gantt Edition is the scheduling engine.
Instead of Microsoft Planner Premium, LEO PPM Gantt Edition uses LEO Gantt — our own scheduling product.
We began developing LEO Gantt at the end of 2023 due to growing dissatisfaction with Microsoft’s direction for Planner Premium.
That dissatisfaction never disappeared.
On June 14, during our annual conference, we officially introduced LEO Gantt to the market.
Our goal was not just to build a tool “better than Planner Premium”.
We wanted to create a product where:
- customers can influence the roadmap
- feedback is implemented quickly
- real project managers shape the product, not just a global vendor backlog
LEO PPM Gantt Edition is chosen by organisations that require:
- classic or hybrid Gantt planning
- higher control over dependencies and timelines
- independence from Microsoft’s product decisions
- advanced possibilities of scheduling and resource planning
LEO Plan
In August 2025, Microsoft officially announced the retirement of Project Online.
Thousands of organisations suddenly faced the same question:
What should we replace it with?
Our answer was LEO Plan.
We deliberately removed all strategy and portfolio-level blocks from LEO PPM Gantt Edition and created a pure project management product.
LEO Plan is designed for companies that:
- are migrating from Project Online
- need strong project planning and reporting
- do not require portfolio or strategy execution modules
In short, the LEO Plan is project management only — nothing more, nothing less.

All three editions share the same core philosophy: Transparency. Governance. Execution.
The difference lies only in how deep you want to go and which tools you want to use.
Whether you start with LEO Plan, Planner Edition, or Gantt Edition, you always keep the option to grow further.
